died on December 16th, 2015

38yo Mr Jetton, a former Midlander living in Tennessee, USA, worked for a roofing company and had four children, five siblings, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. At 4:44PM on December 16th he was at home with his wife and three children (aged 2, 3, and 12). The couple got into an argument, and Mr Jetton's wife shot him in the chest. She then called 911 and admitted to killing him.

Carol and Wayne Parker
died on December 19th, 2013

Mr and Mrs Parker from Virginia, USA, were killed by their only son, 16yo honor-roll 10th grader with no criminal or psychiatric record. "I just remember getting mad," he told investigators. "It's all from my dad. All this stuff like my dad taking away my iPod and stuff." The teen left school early, pepper-sprayed his mom, stabbed her and beat her with a crowbar, then waited for his dad to return home and stabbed and beat him with a crowbar as well. "I feel that he killed his parents because he wanted to have his own lifestyle," his uncle said. "He wanted to be able to do what he wanted to do, and he felt like even though they were very good parents, he felt like that wasn't good enough for him."

Jade Morris
died on December 21st, 2012

10yo Jade, straight-A fifth-grader from Las Vegas, USA, went Christmas shopping with her dad's fiancee. As they were leaving, Jade's mom said "Have fun. I love you." The fiancee killed Jade by inflicting 40 stab wounds, and then attempted to slash a woman she believed Jade's father was dating. "Her life growing up was very, very difficult," her lawyer said. "She hopes to take the rest of her life, that she knows will be in prison, and try to give guidance to the younger prisoners."

Now Jade's mom listens to the last recordings Jade left on her phone. The girl sang "If I Ain't Got You" by Alicia Keys. She would sneak messages when her mother was asleep. "I got your phone," she said. "I love you, Mommy."

Lucinda Knoll
died on December 28th, 2013

39yo mother of three from New York, USA, Mrs Knoll was murdered by her ex-boyfriend. He tried make it look like a robbery, so that she would die and he would get the custody of one of the children, the one they had in common. Mrs Knoll was "a happy and outgoing person who loved giving help to people in need," according to her family and friends.

Lee-Ann Elizabeth Shannon
died on December 29th, 2012

Lee-Ann Shannon's drowning came on the day she was due to leave home at her husband's insistence, to be replaced by his young lover - a woman who had lived in the Shannons' home earlier for about a year after Lee-Ann invited her in when she was homeless. "Her and Tim had what I thought was a loving marriage," Lee=Ann's mother said of her daughter. "(They had) many problems, because Tim was what I thought was a very controlling young man, but they just seemed to love each other so much." She said the two met in school, at Spring Arbor College, and kept in contact for five years before Lee-Ann finally agreed to marry him. Chaffin spoke of how much she misses her daughter, whom she said was highly intelligent, well-traveled, compassionate and a committed Christian.

Laura Aceves
died on December 31st, 2012

Laura was a 21yo mother from Arkansas, USA. She worked at a Tyson Foods plant, deboning chicken. Her apartment complex manager describes her as a "very, very sweet girl". "She went to work, and came home, and took care of her son," he said, "I don't think I ever saw her without a smile."

Laura had a violent ex, Victor Acuna-Sanchez, the father of her 4 months old son. He was out on bail, awaiting trial for previous attacks on Laura, including a felony for aggravated assault. Victor was under court order to have no contact with Laura and to check in with probation by phone twice week. He followed neither order, kept threatening to kill Laura, physically assaulting her, and damaging her property. She kept calling the police, but somehow they were unable to protect her. Laura's body was found in her apartment, with a gunshot wound to her head, and her 4 months old son covered in her blood. Victor was arrested the same evening in his mom's house, hiding in the shower with a .22-caliber handgun.

Arisa Vana David
died on January 2nd, 2018

25yo Vana was involved in an on-and-off abusive relationship for the past seven years. "Many times she would write on Facebook that she and the man done and then people seeing them hugging up and walking the road," Vana's mom said. "The next thing people seeing the man beating her all over the place. She could not have talked to anyone, the man would feel offended. She got a little job in the parlour right here and he going there and abusing she. He always sticking up on her. Over a year ago, he pelt her with a cellphone and her eye got damaged, she always had to go to the doctor." Vana was choked to death in front of her two daughters, aged 7 and 2.

Lena (Elaine) Smith
died on January 3rd, 2014

45yo Elaine from Virgina, USA, turned her life around four months prior to her death. She quit drugs, started taking medications for her schizophrenia, gained custody of her grand daughter, started going to church. She also kicked out her boyfriend, whom they had a violent history with; Elaine was convicted of stabbing him during a domestic dispute. On January 3rd he came over and stabbed her in the back six times. He claimed self-defense, referencing her prior history of violence, drugs, and mental illness. However, he was found guilty of murder and sentenced to 31 years in prison.

Nikita Chawla
died on January 9th, 2015

Ms Chawla, a dancer and choreographer who had just completed her final exams for her performing arts degree at the end of 2014, was savagely murdered on January 9, 2015. Her family paid tribute to her in court as vivacious, brave and creative. 'Nikita was achieving her dreams,' mother Sunila Chawla said in her victim impact statement. 'My light and joy has been snatched away from me.' Ms Chawla had secretly married Mr Singh in September 2011, but by January this year their relationship had deteriorated. While Mr Singh was in India in January 2015, Ms Chawla told friends she was planning on ending her marriage and had started looking for somewhere else to live. Crown Prosecutor Peter Rose QC said 'It appears at some stage the accused had accessed the deceased's phone. Singh last month pleaded guilty to murdering Ms Chawla.

Irene McLean
died on January 10th, 2017

Irene died from malnutrition and multiple rib fractures, after being removed from her family care givers home by adult protective services in terrible shape. She died nearly a month later at Sentera Nursing and Rehabilitation Windermere, according to a Sentera spokesperson. Authorities are now looking over a 3-month period time span into whether McLean got proper care while under her caretaker who is listed as a family member, documents said. She is remembered by her may friends as a kind and woman - one who had a passion for travel she visited over 100 countries during her lifetime. And who liked swimming, yoga, and dance.
